Bottle Genies

You may have already heard that The Bottle Genies have sadly closed their doors, and that Doorstep Glass Recycling has stepped in to continue to provide a service for its customers under the same terms and prices.

We’ve spoken to many Bottle Genie customers directly following the announcement on Facebook, and we’re pleased to have welcomed so many of you as transferring customers. Whether or not we’ve spoken with you directly, we felt it was important to send this email to provide clarity and address any questions you may have to ensure a smooth transition to our service.

Keep your glass collections going

To keep your glass collections going, please complete the transfer to us by signing up as a new customer in Fife on our website here: https://doorstepglassrecycling.co.uk/fife-collections/

We’re aware that not all Bottle Genie customers live in Fife, however we are using this sign-up form as the main route for transferring customers so that we can guarantee the Bottle Genie price you’re used to.

If you have already completed the transfer by signing up online, you don’t need to do this again.

FAQs

You may have questions about who we are and how your collection service will operate moving forward. We’ve answered some of the FAQs we’ve already received from Bottle Genie customers below.

Will my collection schedule change?

We’ll do our best to maintain continuity of routes and collection dates. We will be in touch very soon to confirm the date of the next collection with customers that complete the transfer by signing up using the form for customers in Fife.

I already have a box

We know that most Bottle Genie customers will already have a box to store their glass in, so we’ve frozen the charge for boxes for new customers signing up using the form for the Fife. This means that you’ll only be charged for the monthly collections, and not the one-off charge for the box.

I don’t have a box – how can I get one?

We’re aware that some newer Bottle Genie customers don’t yet have a collection box. If this applies to you, please send an email to info@doorstepglassrecycling.co.uk to request a box after you sign up to complete the transfer. Please use the subject line ‘FIFE CUSTOMER BOX REQUIRED’, and include your name and the collection address in the email. We’ll drop your box off at your first collection. Please use bags for life or another suitable container to store your glass in the meantime.

Your website says you don’t cover my area. Can I still sign up to complete the transfer?

Yes – absolutely! We’ve agreed to extend our service coverage to ensure all Bottle Genie customers can still get collections. It will take us time to update our website with the new areas we cover, and our top priority is maintaining a great service for our existing customers and providing a smooth transition for our new customers from The Bottle Genies.

I had a bespoke agreement with The Bottle Genies that was different to the standard pricing and collection structure. Can you accommodate me?

We’ll do our best to honour any bespoke agreements, prices and collection structures for transferring Bottle Genie customers.

Please send an email to info@doorstepglassrecycling.co.uk letting us know what you need, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

How will I know when my first collection will be?

Once you complete the transfer, we’ll be in touch to confirm the date of your first collection. We send email and text notifications to our customers the night before a collection as a handy reminder to put out your glass.

About Doorstep Glass Recycling

Doorstep Glass Recycling launched in December 2020 when we noticed the need for a regular household glass collection service in Dundee. We initially launched in Dundee, and soon expanded to Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Fife and most recently Glasgow.

We believe that it’s important to give back to the communities we serve in, so since our launch we have supported local Foodbanks with regular bulk donations, and last year we delivered 1,000 Christmas dinners to Foodbanks across the regions we serve, in partnership with Scott Brothers.

We were delighted to be one of 3 finalists for the Young Business of the Year Award at the 2021 Courier Business Awards. Our customers are our top priority and we continue to invest in our business to provide a reliable service that takes the hassle out of household glass recycling.

We look forward to welcoming you as a customer.

Kind words from our customers

I am not afraid to say I hate standing the process of taking all the bottles to the recycling point, for a few pounds a month it saves me the hassle and the embarrassment!

John, 55, Dundee

We have a young family and busy jobs and simply do not have the time so for us it is all about convenience.

Rebecca, 36, Broughty Ferry

Both my parents are elderly and the service is perfect for them as they do not get out and about easily.

Grace, 46, Perth

I love the fact the company donate proceeds to charity and encourage recycling at the same time.

Martha, 27, Aberfeldy

We signed up because we live in a flat and have to carry our empties some distance, this saves us a lot of hassle

Fraser, 32, Fife
