Carnoustie keeps it glassy!

Glass recycling collections in Carnoustie

Dunc collects glass from doorsteps in Carnoustie every 4 weeks. You fill the box, he takes it away and leaves it back for you, and it goes to be recycled.

Carnoustie is on Dunc’s rounds, but not every street in a town is, the check is the only way to be sure.

Checked 12 October 2026 against Angus Council, who are the ones who can change it. Worth a look before you set off.

Or leave it at the door

The tip is free, and it opens 5 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. If that suits you and you do not mind loading the car, use it. Plenty of people do.

What catches people out is the rest of it: it is shut Tuesday and Thursday, and vans, pick-ups and trailers have to book a slot first. Glass is the heaviest thing in the recycling and the one that breaks, and you are the one carrying it to the car and out of it again.

It is 4 minutes in the car, there and back, which comes to 52 minutes a year. That is not much and we are not going to dress it up: the drive was never the hard part of this errand. The loading, the queue at the gate and the unloading all sit on top of it. And every bit of it has to happen on one of the 5 days the gate is open.

Dunc comes every 4 weeks for £5.00 a collection. Box out by 7am, no slot to book. It goes to Sibelco Green Solutions to be recycled, same as it would from the tip.

No trips to the bottle bank

Glass is heavy, it is bulky and it breaks. Leave it at the door and let Dunc carry it.

£5.00 a collection

One box, every 4 weeks. No contract, stop when you like.

Actually recycled

Licensed waste carrier WCR/R/1197147. It goes to Sibelco Green Solutions to be recycled, not quietly into landfill.

What Dunc takes in Carnoustie

Bottles and jars of any colour: wine, beer, spirits, sauces, jam. Perfume bottles and toiletries too. Rinse anything that held food.

Mirrors, Pyrex, drinking glasses and light bulbs cannot be recycled and belong in general waste.

When he comes

Every four weeks, the same day each time, and we text and email you the night before so you are not trying to remember. Box out by 7am, wherever you tell him to look.
